Getting started

Who Assessco is for and how to begin

Do I need to be an IME company to use Assessco?

No. There are two independent entry points. IME companies use Assessco EPC to coordinate referrals across a roster of examiners. Examiners in solo or independent practice use the independent examiner portal to take direct referrals under their own clinic profile. You can start with either. Assessco EPC · Independent examiner portal

Can an examiner work for an IME company and run an independent practice?

Yes. Assessco uses one EXAMINER role with two products. On an IME tenant you work network cases assigned by the IME company. On a clinic tenant you accept direct referrals under your own profile — including from the public examiner directory. How both workflows connect

How long does setup take?

Independent examiners can launch a profile, referral link, and availability in an afternoon. IME companies typically complete guided onboarding over one or two working sessions — we recommend running a single real referral end to end before migrating your full caseload. Is Assessco built for Canada?

Yes. Assessco is positioned for the Canadian IME market — CAD billing language, province-aware directory search, and architecture designed around PIPEDA and PHIPA expectations for sensitive medical-legal files. IME software Canada · Security overview

Pricing & plans

Trials, early access, and how billing works

What does it cost to try Assessco?

Independent examiner plans include a 14-day free trial with full platform access and no credit card. IME company plans start with a guided onboarding call so we can map your workflow before you migrate anything. See pricing

What is the early access offer?

IME companies onboarding in 2026 can receive their first three months free during early access. Independent examiners start on a free trial and choose a plan when ready. Claim early access

How does billing work for delivered cases?

Rate cards are set per assessment type and can vary by referrer. When a report is delivered, invoice lines populate from the case record — no separate spreadsheet for billing. Billing & invoicing

Platform & features

Referrals, scheduling, reports, and the examiner network

How does referral intake work?

For IME companies, referrers with portal access submit structured referrals, or IME admin enters them manually — then creates a case from each accepted referral. Independent examiners receive cases from /examiners or their /r/ link, or create cases themselves. Referral intake

How does scheduling work?

The examiner sends the claimant a scheduling or availability link. The claimant selects time slots; the examiner confirms one. For IME companies, IME admin then adds service providers and locks in the appointment date. The full exchange stays on the case record. Scheduling

Can we keep our own report templates?

Yes. IME companies manage organisation templates in the platform. Examiners can draft in the built-in editor or upload a finished PDF. Report delivery, amendment requests, and version history work the same either way. Reports & review

What is the examiner directory?

A public, searchable directory of independent examiners who accept direct referrals — filter by specialty, city, province, and language. Each profile is indexable for local IME search. Examiner network

Referrers & claimants

Insurers, law firms, and people being examined

Do referrers and claimants need Assessco accounts?

Not for the core actions. IME referrers with portal access can submit referrals and see reports in their portal; others receive reports by email. Independent examiners send a private referral status page link when a case is accepted — the submitter tracks, downloads, and messages from that page with no login. Claimants schedule from an emailed link with no account at all. Referrer portal · Referrer workflow guide

Can law firms refer directly to independent examiners?

Yes. Counsel can search the directory by specialty and city, open a profile, and submit a referral with documents in one form — then track status to the finished report. Law firm portal

How do service providers (transport, interpretation) fit in?

Transport and interpretation vendors see bookings, schedules, and invoices from every connected IME company in their service provider portal — notified when exams are confirmed. Service providers

Security & compliance

Data handling for medical-legal files

How is sensitive data protected?

Each organisation's operational data lives in tenant-isolated storage. Authentication runs through Keycloak (OIDC with PKCE). Files are stored in encrypted object storage and served through short-lived signed URLs. Case actions are written to an audit trail. Security overview

Who can see a case?

Access is role-based and enforced server-side. Referrers only see their own referrals. Network examiners only see cases assigned to them. Workspace permissions are granular per module — referrals, cases, reports, billing, and team. Privacy policy

Where is data stored?
