How Assessco works
Assessco supports two complete workflows. Large IME companies coordinate assessments across a roster of examiners. Examiners in independent practice take referrals directly. Both end with a reviewed report and an invoice in the referrer's hands — and a referrer can reach either from the same directory.
IME company
Referrer submits → coordinator reviews → examiner assigned → claimant schedules → report reviewed internally → delivered with invoice. Eight steps, five actors.
Independent examiner
Referrer uses your link or finds you in the directory → you accept → claimant books → you send the report → referrer tracks and pays. Six steps, three actors.
The IME company workflow
Five parties touch a case: the referrer, your coordinator, the examiner, the claimant, and often a transport or interpretation provider. Each one acts in their own portal, on the same case record.
Add the referral
Referrers with portal access submit structured referrals themselves — claimant details, claim type, injury information, questions in issue, and supporting documents. Your IME admin can also enter referrals manually for phone, fax, or email intake. Both routes produce the same referral record.
Review the referral and create a case
New referrals land in a review queue marked pending review. Your IME admin accepts one and creates a case from it — inheriting every field and document — or declines with a reason the referrer sees straight away.
Assign an examiner
Filter your roster by specialty, location, and current caseload, then assign the case. It stays waiting for examiner to accept until they respond in their portal.
Scheduling link and slot selection
The examiner sends the claimant a scheduling link. The claimant selects time slots from the examiner's availability — no coordinator phone tag.
Add service providers and set the appointment
Your IME admin books transport, interpretation, or other vendors on the case. Once providers are arranged and a slot is confirmed, the appointment date is locked in for everyone on the file.
Examination, then report to your team
After the exam the case moves to report due. The examiner completes the report using your organisation's template, or uploads a finished PDF, and submits it to your IME admin — not directly to the referrer.
Review or decline before delivery
Submitted reports go to under review. Your IME admin verifies and approves, or declines back to the examiner with notes for amendment. Nothing reaches the referrer until your team has signed off.
Report by email or referrer portal
The approved report is emailed to the referrer, or appears in their referrer portal if they have access. An invoice is raised from your rate card and visible alongside the report.
The independent examiner workflow
No coordinator in the middle. You take cases from your public portal at /examiners or create them yourself, send availability links, confirm slots, and deliver reports directly to whoever submitted the case — with a private referral status page for tracking.
The case arrives — or you create it
Referrals come in through your public examiner profile at /examiners or your personal referral link at /r/your-clinic. You can also create cases yourself when work arrives by phone or email. Every submission lands as a case in your portal.
Accept or decline the case
New cases appear as pending acceptance. Read the file and take it, or decline with a reason. When you accept, the person who submitted the referral gets a private referral status page link — no account required.
Availability link, then you confirm a slot
You send the claimant an availability or scheduling link. They select time slots from your calendar; you confirm one from their choices. No coordinator in the middle.
Examination, then report to the submitter
After the exam the case moves to report due. Draft the report in the built-in editor, or upload a PDF, and send it directly to the person who submitted the case — by email and on their status page.
Private referral status page
From the tokenised status page sent when you accepted the case, the submitter tracks progress, downloads the report, views invoices, messages you, or requests an amendment — all without logging in.
Invoice, then close
Raise the invoice against the case at your rate for that assessment type. Close the case and the full record stays on the audit trail.
